The burnout technique (or dévoré), is a technique in which a chemical paste is applied on a fabric in order to dissolve its cellulose parts.
This project is using dévoré as a way to display the complexity of this multilayered composite material.
Starting with geometric patterns, such as the “Grid”, the “Clark”, the “Attilio” patterns by Sahco, and personal patterns (visible on the background textile), the exploration progressively evolved to develop an organic pattern, visible at the front. This pattern is harmoniously blending the dévoré parts with the non dévoré parts, showcasing different ranges of colors by playing with proportions and textures.
